This is now a dormant blog

This blog will officially become dormant. I am not planning on deleting anything, but I do not plan on adding anything in the future either. For science and technology related news, take a look at the sciencelibrary.org website. For news and information related to the Penrose Library at the University of Denver, take a look at the Penrose Pen and/or the Good Answers blogs.

Preview the New Penrose Web Site

Please preview the new Penrose Library web site. Not only does it have a new look, it has a whole new organizational framework. Using the principles of user-centered design, we organized the site around the things that people like you want to do, rather than around resource types or the administrative organization of the Library. Please send us your comments and suggestions.

For example, you will notice that across the top of the page there are drop-down menus specifically for Students and Faculty that contain links directly to the things we think you want to do right away. If you click on the links at the top of the page, you can go to an entire page tailored to your specific needs and experience, no matter who you are: Faculty, Student, Staff, Visitor, or Alumni.

You will also see that on every page you have the opportunity to search a variety of resources, the Library catalog, indexes and databases, and primary source material, both locally and across the world.

There is also a completely revamped and upgraded way to approach research from a thematic as well as course-based approach. Using a new service called LibGuides, you can now find research resources based on a particular course or on a specific topic. Again, the idea is to bring you the information services you need, the way you want them.

Split into two parts

This blog is going to be split into two parts.

For information on new general science and engineering resources, they are now announced at http://www.sciencelibrary.org.

If items pertain to the Penrose Library and our patrons, they will be put onto a new blog that will be announced later.

Boettcher Foundation Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards

This portfolio community supports DU principal investigators as they prepare proposals for the new Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards program. Here you will find information on the program, on the application requirements, and on DU's internal, peer review selection process. DU can forward one proposal to the Boettcher Foundation for potential funding.
